Vancouver on a global scale is known as a very active and fit city.....rightfully so! With so many outdoor options at our fingertips to choose from, people can't help but enjoy the best of the outdoors! In the Fall I choose to combine walking the seawall for cardio and fresh air and then visiting the local Fitness World gym for weight training. Winter...still focus on the former and add in snowboarding and snowshoeing at our 3 local mountains. Spring...finish up Spring skiing, add in hikes at the mountains as the snow starts to disappear...Summer...add running outdoors, rollerblading and trying to maintain the gym schedule however, this is really difficult, as with Summer comes Patio Season. Everyone in Vancouver knows how hard it is to keep up the workout schedule when patio season hits....;)

Keeping active in Vancouver is a fun and fulfilling thing.
Since Yoga is the hot new trend, there is Westcoast Hot Yoga. This studio is in the heart of Yaletown. They offer yoga in a heated room which aids in the stretching of muscles to really amp your yoga experience.
The seawall in West Vancouver is also a very scenic walk, run, or jog. From the seawall you enjoys views of the Lions Gate Bridge, Stanley Park, and many of our local mountains.

When the winter months come to an end the dreaded Grouse Grind opens. From the spring till late September you can conquer the 2.9 kilometre trail which leads to the Grouse mountain plateau. Climb 2,800 feet at a 30 degree incline for a challenging workout. Apparently the official course record is 24:22set by a professional mountain runner named Jonathan Wyatt, I think that may be tough to beat but anywhere around an hour is supposed to be pretty good.
Happy trails.
