Mazda’s new CX-5 compact SUV has just been launched in South Africa bringing with it the latest in the company’s frugal SKYACTIV engine technology in a stylish package.

The CX-5 comes in three flavours, encompassing three trim (Active, Dynamic and Individual) and a choice of two transmissions, all of which are powered by a 2,0-litre SKYACTIV-G petrol engine featuring a suite of fuel-saving engine technologies. Basically, the SKYACTIV systems aim to make internal combustion as efficient as possible to extract as much performance from the engine while keeping fuel consumption and emissions as low as possible.
