Family Travel Tips
Vancouver is known to be one of the best cities for families and fabulous for kids. Kids can have fun at many of Vancouver\'s amazing attractions, such as the Vancouver Aquarium, Science World and Stanley Park. There are many pools to splash around in, such as Kitsilano and Second Beach pool, and you can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities around town. Visiting families can try out all of Vancouver\'s attractions and get family discounts at the many cafeteria and fast food restaurants in town, as well as the many other healthy restaurants around the city. There are many motels, hotels, and resorts around Vancouver that offer services and fun entertainment for kids. Many of them offer in-house movies and entertainment for the kids, as well as snacks, mini bathrobes and kid-friendly menus. There are plenty of budget accommodations in the city to suit the family travel budget. Hotels like the Robson Suites on Robson, the Sylvia Hotel in the West End, and The Empire Landmark hotel all have excellent family services. The Empire Landmark hotel has fabulous views of the city, the north shore mountains, and a rotating restaurant. If your family can afford a bit more, then head to the Pan Pacific Hotel where kids stay for free and only adult charges apply!

Loved and adored by many retired Canadians and visiting seniors, the city of Vancouver is a great place for seniors to visit and get away from it all. There are many discounts for seniors around the city and you will find special deals on hotels, must-see attractions and tasty restaurants. Transit BC provides seniors with FareDealer rates and many stores and retail establishments sell these types of discount packages around the city. Be sure to check out grocery stores, convenience stores and downtown kiosks for FareDealer discounts. If you are over the age of 50, you can sign up for a membership with AARP and get some amazing discounts on various entertainment and activities.
Seniors will find discounts on meals in fancy restaurants, discounts on cozy hotel rooms, and on must-see attractions. There are many activities for seniors to get involved with in Vancouver. Seniors can stroll along the seawall, take a nice bike ride through Stanley Park, play tennis or go swim at the Aquatic Centre. Nothing beats a brisk walk with a friend or a mate along the seawall where you will spot wildlife, lush trees and colourful flowers. Senior Tours Canada is a great company that offers escorted tours for people 50 and older to more than 100 destinations in Canada, including Vancouver. This would be a great way to meet new friends and explore with a fun and adventurous group.
Gay and Lesbian Travel Tips
Vancouver, BC is now a popular place for same-sex couples to get married. In 2003, the Province of British Columbia legalized same-sex marriages and Vancouver became a hotspot for commitment ceremonies and weddings. This eclectic city has a large gay community, mostly in the laidback West End. The party and club scene is wild and cheerful, and newbies to the area can find listings in the local Xtra! newspaper that can be found around the West End. There is a community centre called the Gay Lesbian Transgendered Bisexual Community Centre that is located in the same area at 1170 Bute Street. Call them at 604-684-5307 for more information.
There are many events going on throughout the year and one of the biggest is the annual Vancouver Pride Parade. With its costumes, colours, music and flair, it is one of the most exciting parades of the year. Vancouver\'s restaurants and hotels are gay-friendly and there is no shortage of things to see or do. You can head up to Whistler, which is north of Vancouver, and enjoy the Gay and Lesbian Ski Week or check out other gay events, gay-friendly restaurants, hotels, nightlife and more at one main online resource, gay.com/travel. If you are looking for a wild club night out, then definitely go to Celebrities Night Club or Numbers, both located on Davie Street just past the Burrard Street intersection in the colourful West End.

Vancouver is a popular student destination that caters to many students across the globe. Local and foreign students alike enjoy a wide variety of activities in Vancouver and in Whistler.
