Top 10 Vancouver Romantic Date Ideas
If you have someone special that you would like to take out and you are wondering how to plan a romantic date then check out these suggestions. There are many romantic outings and activities that you both can enjoy in and around the city of Vancouver. Vancouver is a city filled with colourful flowers, nature and glorious sunsets… You can always find romance at every corner of the city.
Picnic in Stanley Park
Stanley Park is a great location for a picnic in the park. Take a picnic basket filled with fruits, sandwiches, drinks and snacks and sit on the edge of Stanley Park and overlook the sparkling Pacific Ocean. Your date will be impressed with the effort you made in planning the date. Don’t forget to bring a blanket to sit on!
Coffee, Sandwich and a Stroll
Plan to meet at Caffe Artigiano at 736 Hornby Street, across from the Vancouver Art Gallery. This café is known for the designs they create within the coffee, their espressos and café lattes. They have tasty sandwiches, such as the chicken and brie panino and the prosciutto sandwich. After you have finished talking over lunch, you can take a stroll down Robson Street and do some window shopping together.
See Some Art and Culture
If both of you are art lovers then plan your date at the Vancouver Art Gallery. You can meet and greet at the entrance and then go in and see loads of exhibitions and approximately 10,000 pieces of permanent art. You can check out the shop afterwards, as well as sit and have a cocktail, lunch or dinner in the Gallery Café.
Granville Island
Take your date to Granville Island for the afternoon. You can explore the market together, have lunch at Bridges Restaurant by the water’s edge, and maybe stay on for happy hour. Granville Island is a great location for a date, as there is so much to see and do. There will be no awkward silences if you stay active. Maybe you will end up at the Kaboodles Toy store playing Twister!
Get a Suntan
If you are both comfortable enough, you can head to one of Vancouver’s many beaches and stay for the day. It might be a good idea to stay away from Wreck Beach on the first date, though (nude beach!) Find a secluded place—such as Third Beach—and take a cold drink with you. Spend the day chatting and people-watching, and get to know each other better.
Bookstore Shopping
Sometimes a good way to get to know someone is to see what type of books they pick up in a bookstore. You will be able to find out what your date has an interest in. You can then grab a coffee from Starbucks and go sit together and sift through books and magazines while you talk. Chapters Bookstore is a great location for this kind of ice-breaking date.
Try the Sandbar Seafood Restaurant
Take your date out to the Sandbar, located at 1535 Johnston Street, and wine and dine them off their feet. The Sandbar has a great upper patio to enjoy on a nice day or evening and there is also a little dance floor inside if you feel like grooving together later on. This restaurant is located on Granville Island, so you can also take a nice stroll after dancing to cool off.
Gaze at the Stars
The Macmillan Observatory is perfect for gazing upon the night sky. You and your date will definitely find this is romantic as you look at thousands of glorious stars shining way up above. Located right beside the H.R Macmillan Space Centre, this observatory accepts donations as admission.
Head to Chinatown
Take a stroll through Chinatown and head to the Sun Yat-sen Chinese Gardens for a tranquil stroll. Romantic and relaxing, this place is a great place to walk through while chatting. The gardens are located at 578 Carrell Street and the website is at www.vancouverchinesegarden.com.
Dinner on Grouse Mountain
Dine at The Observatory Restaurant on Grouse Mountain and dazzle your new love interest with panoramic views of the whole city of Vancouver. It is only a short 15-minute drive from downtown and they specialize in fine West Coast cuisine.
